Need some extra help?

Determining details about hiring a student can be confusing, especially if you are hiring the student as a University employee. If you need additional assistance, contact the HUP.

Immediate Start

-If you have the details of your project and student work plan worked out and are ready to advertise the position, the quickest way is to post it yourself on GoldPASS (the University's Monster.com-like job search and post engine).

- On GoldPASS, you can reach hundreds of current undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni. You can post jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities on GoldPASS. GoldPASS also has a resume search feature, which allows you to email specific students based on their qualifications and experience.

Time for Planning

- If you have time to plan out your student project, you might consider working with a class or contacting the Career and Community Learning Center (CCLC).

- To work with a class, try searching the University Neighborhood Network's web site or contacting a professor by searching for your project's goals on the Expertise Database or University main page.

- The Career and Community Learning Center (CCLC) can help you to establish an internship program.

- Posting the position on GoldPASS or with a program's career services office or coordinator is also effective.

Multiple Semesters or Short Term Project?

- It is important to know how long your project will run with a student worker. Some students will be looking for a certain number of hours to fulfill requirements, and some will only be able to work during a certain semester or the summer term. Short term projects are also a possibility, just be clear in the job description and student work plan.
