Student Will Work Independently
- If your office is not providing a supervisor to work closely with the student worker, a detailed work plan is necessary. You should have a conversation about work volume expectations and hours with the student worker so that both of you are comfortable with what is to be accomplished.
- Your office may also choose to have the student work from home or their own office, rather than at your organization. No matter what situation you work out with the student, you must provide them with a point person to ask questions of.
Student Will Work Alongside a Supervisor
- If you are assigning a supervisor or mentor to the student, make sure the staff person has a clear idea of the project and what the student worker will be expected to complete. They should hold regular meetings to keep each other informed and updated.
