Brooklyn Park Youth Project The University of Minnesota's Youthwork Institute and undergraduate Matt Norris are working with Brooklyn Park and Hennepin County on a partnership project that will send teenagers to inteview their peers, business owners and community leaders to create a map of youth-friendly businesses and opportunities in Brooklyn Park in Spring 2008. The youth will work with adults to decide what actions they can take over the next year to increase youth engagement in the community. |

Hennepin County Youth Sports and Activities Initiative Hennepin County invited Kinesiology faculty Professor Maureen Weiss, along with other faculty and staff from the U of M, to serve on an advisory committee to consider a framework related to the distribution of sales tax revenue from the Twins ballpark. Asthma Games Designed for Hennepin County Medical Center by Architecture Students U of M students in an Architecture Design Fundamentals course designed asthma games to be used as educational tools for kids and conducted field tests at HCMC. The asthma education tools include four asthma game prototypes and students tested their prototypes with HCMC pediatric patients. The Medica Foundation fully funded the project-- a $30,000 grant was given to the project to replicate and distribute the games. |
