The General Assembly, Recalling its resolution 48/218 B of 29 July 1994, in which it decided to establish an Office of Internal Oversight Services under the authority of the Secretary-General, 1. Takes note with appreciation of the annual report of the Secretary- General on the activities of the Office of Internal Oversight Services, and notes the views expressed by Member States; 2. Takes note of the reports of the Office of Internal Oversight Services, and decides to consider them under the relevant item of the agenda; 3. Requests the Secretary-General to entrust the Office of Internal Oversight Services, in line with General Assembly resolution 48/218 B, with the maintenance of close cooperation with the Joint Inspection Unit and the Board of Auditors, so that the comments of those two bodies on the reports of the Office, and the comments of the Secretary-General thereon, may be considered, as appropriate, by the Assembly, together with the reports of the Office; 4. Reaffirms that procedures for recruitment and promotion applied to personnel of the Office of Internal Oversight Services should be consistent with those applied to the Secretariat. |
