India Code Information System is the official database of the Government of India. It contains all the statutes enacted by the Parliament. Relevant precedents and amendments are retrieved in an up-to-date form.

This database consists of all the Central Acts of Parliament from 1834 onwards. This includes all the Sections, Schedules, Short Title, Enactment Date and also very significant Foot-Notes in every act. Besides, Statement of Objects and Reasons (S.O.R.), Table of Contents (TOC) or the Status of an Act can also be had from this system. It also contains the Bills introduced and passed by the Parliament of India.

To retrieve any act of one's interest, the user should know one or more of the following bits of information :
1. Act Year ,
2. Act Number,
3. Section Number,
4. Schedule Number,
5. A Word or a combination of Words appearing anywhere in the text of the Act. These WORDS may be KEYWORDS only or even STOPWORDS (i.e., AND, OR, OF,IN etc.).
