NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONS AND ESC RIGHTS

The purpose of Module 23 is to help ESC rights activists understand the characteristics of national human rights commissions and their role in the realization of ESC rights.

This module should help trainees understand/clarify for themselves:

• The importance of working with national institutions and developing appropriate strategies for utilize them for ensuring the realization of ESC rights.

Suggested Methods

¨      Group work on developing strategies: The participants should be asked to work in small groups and produce a strategy for utilising their national institutions for the realization of ESC rights.  After the presentation of reports, the facilitator should make a presentation on the importance of using national institutions and sum up the strategies proposed by the participants.
