Curriculum Guides

The Uprooted: Refugees: and the United States, A Multidisciplinary Teaching Guide by David M. Donahue and Nancy Flowers with the Amnesty International Human Rights Education Steering Committee. The Uprooted provides curricular material for middle school through adult education that can be adapted for classes on art, history, mathematics, language, and many others. Activities can be used independently and include suggestions for further study and action. A teaching bibliography, filmography, list of refugee organizations and resources, and a copy of the UDHR are included.

Human Rights for Children by the Amnesty International Human Rights for Children Committee, with illustrations by Marsha Sinetar. This manual of curriculum activities for children ages 3-12 teaches universal rights and encourages the development of self-worth, understanding, and multicultural awareness. It is organized in 10 sections, corresponding to the 10 principles of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Sections are divided into developmental age groups, and include lists of children's books.
