2010 Fellowship Application

Thank you for your interest in the Upper Midwest Human Rights Fellowship.

Application Deadline: Friday, February 12, 2010, 4:00 pm

 

Instructions

  • You must include six collated copies of all materials sent by mail.

  • You MUST submit an online application AND print six copies of your application to mail with your attachments.

  • DO NOT PRINT THE APPLICATION PAGE! Once you have completed your application, click the 'submit' button and review your information. If you are satisfied, THEN print six copies of the review page and click 'submit' to finish your application.

  • You must submit a complete application to be considered.

  • You will not be able to save any information you enter using the online application, so please be sure to print a copy of any work you do.

Applications and supporting materials must be received by Friday, February 12, 2010, at 4:00 pm Central time.

Notifications of the Fellowship Awards will be made on March 31, 2010.

Attachments


Please make six copies of each attachment (including transcripts) and mail them as a complete packet to the Human Rights Center.

 

Confirmation letter from host

If in a language other than English, you must provide a translation.

Transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable)

College and University transcripts, from the last ten years only.

Resume (1 page max.)

Detailing your experience in the area of the proposed fellowship, including previous internships or fellowships, travel, education, employment, extracurricular activities, honors, etc. You may also wish to include a brief cover letter highlighting how these experiences will relate to your proposed fellowship.

Essay (2-3 pages)

Essay should detail the following:

a) Fellowship placement

b) Proposed host organization

c) Significance of the experience for your academic or professional training

d) Relationship of the fellowship to your future goals

e) How the host organization will benefit from a fellowship

f) Description of the key aspects of a current human rights issue in the country/location of your proposed fellowship and how the sponsoring organization addresses it

e) Description of how you will use your new human rights experiences in your community upon your return home
