戴维∙ 威斯布罗特 (David Weissbrodt) 教授，明尼苏达大学校董会唯一特聘法学教授(Regent Professor at Law); 1998年以来担任弗雷德里克森和拜伦讲座教授(Fredrikson and Bryon Professor of Law)。威斯布罗特教授著作等身，在国际人权法研究方面享有盛名。

威斯布罗特教授毕业于哥伦比亚大学(Columbia University)和伦敦经济学院(London School of Economics)，获文学学士(B.A.)。随后就读于加州大学伯克利校区法学院(Boalt Hall)，获法学博士学位(J.D.)。在法学院其间，他担任《加州法律评论》(California Law Review)的评论和注释编辑，并加入了美国全国杰出法学生的荣誉组织“法相庄严”(The Order of the Coif)。法学院毕业后，他为加州最高法院的马修· 托布里纳(Mathew O. 威斯布罗特教授是以下国际人权组织的法律顾问或董事：大赦国际(Amnesty International); 虐待受害者中心(The Center for Victims of Torture); 明尼苏达人权维护者 (Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights); 读者国际(Readers International); 国际人权同盟 (International League for Human Rights)。

1996年至2003年，威斯布罗特教授担任联合国人权促进和保护委员会委员(United Nations Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights)，并在2001至2002年间担任该委员会的主席。2002至2003年间，他被委任为联合国非公民权利的特别报告人(U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Non-citizens)。

1998年，威斯布罗特教授获“双城国际公民奖” (Twin Cities International Citizen Award)。1999年，获明尼苏达大学“杰出社区服务奖”(Outstanding Community Service Award)。2003年，获“明尼苏达人权维护者组织”的“年度人权奖”(Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights Annual Human Rights Award)。他还是美国法律学会(American Law Institute)和美国国际法协会(American Society of International Law)的会员。他还是《人权季刊》(Human Rights Quarterly)和《荷兰人权季刊》(Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights)的审校委员。
