Michael D. Rohrer, D.D.S., M.S.    -   Director

Professor Michael Rohrer is Director of the Hard Tissue Research Laboratory and Director of the University of Minnesota Oral Pathology Laboratories. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and currently is President and Director of that Board. Professor Rohrer is Vice-President of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and the American College of Dentists. Professor Rohrer spent two sabbatical leaves with Professor Dr. (mult.) Karl Donath at the University of Hamburg, the inventor of the Donath/EXAKT Technique.

Professor Rohrer has received outstanding faculty awards in 1983, 1985, 1986, 1997, 2002, 2003, and 2005. He received his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Michigan as well as the Master of Science in Oral Pathology following service in the Army and several years in general practice. Professor Rohrer has three patents in the field of sterilization by microwaves, has published over 75 research articles and has received 48 research grants and contracts. For the last 18 years he has been very active in research in dental implants and bone substitutes with collaborations around the U.S.A. and the world.

Besides having an active surgical oral pathology practice, he has maintained an active clinical oral pathology practice.

 


Hari S. Prasad, BS, MDT   -   Research Scientist

Hari is Research Scientist and supervisor of the Hard Tissue Research Laboratory at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He has received a B.S. in biology and chemistry as well as a dental technology degree. He is a Master Dental Technologist. Hari has passed all five national boards in dental technology. He is the twenty second person in the United States and around the world to have passed all five national boards.

Before coming to Minnesota, Hari worked at the Hard Tissue Research Laboratory of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry after completion of special studies in histotechnology research under the direction of Professor Michael D. Rohrer. He did his advanced studies in dental technology at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Prior to coming to Oklahoma, Hari had worked for eleven years as director of the dental laboratory at King Fahad Specialist Hospital, Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia. Hari received his Fellowship and Mastership of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2000. He is currently a consultant to the National Board of Certification for Dental Technology.

He is a member of Sigma Xi, National Research Honorary Society, Society of Dental Implantology, and International of College of Oral Implantologists. Hari received an Excellence in Research Award for his contributions to orthopedic research in 1999. He was named the Employee of the year for the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1999. He is a contributing author of several research papers and has been acknowledged in numerous scientific papers for his contributions.

Traveling and photography are Hari's hobbies. He has photographs from the 26 countries (and Alaska) which he has visited.

 


Abhay S. Prasad   -   Laboratory Technician

Abhay works in the Hard Tissue Research Laboratory and the University Oral Pathology Laboratories. He completed one year of special studies in histotechnology research using the Donath/EXAKT technique under the direction of Professor Michael D. Rohrer at the University of Oklahoma. Abhay is trained as a dental technologist and uses this background in his research with dental implants. He is also trained in standard histotechnology techniques.

 


Brenda Pruitt   -   Secretary

Brenda is also the Principal Administrative Secretary for the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. She has been at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry for two years. Brenda is a trained artist and is finishing her degree in art at the University of Minnesota.
