Support the U Day Raises the Roof

Over 200 University of Minnesota students, alumni, faculty and staff from all five campuses packed the Capitol rotunda for Support the U Day on February 20th. The day included speeches and visits with dozens of state legislators, all focusing on the University’s capital funding request for 2008.

State Auditor Rebecca Otto, the Day’s keynote speaker and a University of Minnesota alumna, highlighted the vital role the University places in the economic and cultural life of the state. Her own “U story” involved a University student who won her support for University funding requests when she was a legislator. Student advocates have real power when they come to the Capitol, Otto said.
