Biomedical Sciences Research Facilities Program

To continue to be competitive and a leader in biomedical research, the state must invest in new research facilities. In order to help fund these facilities, the University of Minnesota has proposed legislation that would authorize the creation of the Minnesota Biomedical Sciences Research Facilities Program. The program would promise up to $233.6 million in state bonds to fund new research buildings during the next 6 years. The legislature will approve the specific building projects in odd-year legislative sessions.

The University of Minnesota will continue investing in biomedical sciences research by recruiting and supporting faculty. In turn we're asking the state to make a long term financial investment that will demonstrate a commitment to biomedical research that will keep the University and the state's economy strong.
