About the Network

The Legislative Network is a coalition of volunteers who share a commitment to higher education and to the University of Minnesota.  After a long history of alumni involvement in legislative advocacy on behalf of the U, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association created the Legislative Network over 15 years ago. Throughout the years the Network has worked to keep alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community involved in important University initiatives at the legislature.

The Legislative Network educates, motivates, and activates advocates to deliver the University's key concerns and messages to elected officials. The University needs you to be an advocate now more than ever. Your voice, combined with others across the state, makes a powerful impact on higher education by generating legislative support for the U.

You don't need to be a political wizard. The Network will give you the tools and resources that you need to become a citizen lobbyist. It's an easy way to contribute to the University and to learn about public policy and issues.

Network members will receive action alerts throughout the year and insider information from the Capitol. You will also be invited to attend legislative forums or briefings and constituent meetings in your legislative community.

Get involved today by completing the Join the Network form or by contacting Wokie Freeman at 612-626-1785.
