2010 session review from the U![]() Thanks to the passion and commitment of advocates like you, the U of M made strong headway on its bonding request this year. But did you know that the legislature took action on a host of other U of M issues in 2010, such as 4-H funding, dental training and economic development? To learn about all the impact of the 2010 legislative session on University interests, please visit our legislative updates page on our Government Relations website. We have a full recap of the 2010 session on hand, along with a preview of the 2011 session. Mediation success for the U and the Met Council: LRT construction begins May 17At a special meeting of the Board of Regents on Friday, April 16, the board approved an agreement between the University of Minnesota and the Metropolitan Council, allowing the Central Corridor light rail project to move forward. Negotiations yielded a framework that addresses the U's chief concern -- namely, the protection of its research environment during both the construction and the operation of the line. Once the details are memorialized in writing, the agreement will enable the U to support the project without compromising its research mission or the important work of its faculty and staff in laboratories along Washington Avenue. Visit the U's CCLRT website to learn more about the project, including construction updates. |
