Guide to URL Patterns

Occasionally in the Admin Console you will need to enter URL patterns, such as when defining the set of Web pages that make up your collection. A pattern allows you to match sets of URLs that share something in common: the same server, the same server and directory, a certain file name extension, and so on.

The built-in Help pages on the Search Appliance already provide a wide range of URL pattern examples and explanations — simply click a Help link next to a text field that requires URL patterns. As we discover them, we will add examples of undocumented, advanced URL patterns that we find particularly useful.
