Fixed Processes:

Mass Change Template (batch). Used frequently to identify records according to a chosen criteria and to assign a communication record to them. Before: 2+ hours; now less than 15 minutes.

Campus Community Letter Generation (batch) Identifies incomplete communication records, extracts data into files, which are used to produce letters and mailing labels. Runs 200+ times each night. Before: 14 hours total CPU time; now less than 5 minutes total CPU time.

Term Activation (on-line) Before: 20-25 seconds; now 8-12 seconds.

FA Term (batch) Before: 15,400 records /hr; now 25,500 records /hr.

Transaction Report (batch): Before 4 hours; now 7 minutes.

Bill Extract & Print (batch) Creates the file of bills to send through the network to Printing Services. Before: 5 hrs to produce 20,000 bills; now: 3 hrs to produce 22,775 bills.

Student Financials interface to the Loan Management System (batch) Before: 1.5 hours each night to process all four campuses; now takes 24 seconds.

Quick Post (on-line) Before: 12 seconds; now 1 second and Quick Corp Post (on-line) Before: 12 seconds; now 1 second. Both panels are used to add new transactions to student or "corporate" accounts.

Third Party Contract (on-line) This panel is used to add credits to student accounts when a sponsor, department or tuition benefit pays for the student's fees. Before: timed out with large contracts; now large contracts can process successfully; time varies.

Test Score Loads, recruitment information on prospective students: Scores and other information about prospective students are processed as "batch jobs." SSS, EOS, SAT, GRE, AP, ACT and NRCCUA batch jobs were processing very slowly. Now run normally. For example, the GRE test scores were processing at the rate of 360/hr and now run 3600/hour. The batch process of loading information from Web-based applications for undergrads and grads was also fixed as part of the tape loads above.

Mass Change Template: This is an important program used to change or alter a bunch of data. Used for many different data sets so timing varied. One example: A job used to run for hours and hours or not complete; now runs 10-12 minutes.

The following processes were fixed by PeopleSoft patches and/or the upgrade to Version 7.6: All are performing under 10 seconds.
- Award Entry (on-line).
- Budget Maintenance (on-line).
- Checklist Summary (on-line)
- Customer Accounts (on-line)
- Disburse Aid (on-line)
- ISIR Correction (on-line)

Demographic Data (on-line) and Residency Data (on-line): Fixed by upgrade to 7.6.

Course Catalog II (on-line) Further refinement of a prior fix. Now 2-3 seconds.

Data Clean-up (batch): Before 7 hours; now 1 hour

Quick Refund (on-line): Before 20 seconds, now 3-5 seconds

ISIR Load (batch): 2571 records/hr; now 6880 records/hr.

Payment Reversal (on-line): Before 2.5 minutes; now 2 seconds

Payment Org Reversal (on-line): Before 2.5 minutes; now 2 seconds.

Print transcripts: One transcript took 15-20 minutes to generate, now 15 seconds.

Web add/drop: Vast majority of add/drops in 7- to 10-second range, down from 20-25 seconds in Nov/Dec.

Campus visit summary report: Report routinely ran 8-10 minutes, now about 30 seconds.

Id delete & change (on-line): Process took 20 minutes or timed out; now takes 4 minutes. Both a student and an HR process. Will probably redesign process once worst problems are fixed.

Duplicate id report: Took 6 to 7 minutes, now 3.5 minutes. Both a student and an HR process.

Payment applier: Process ran for several hours until it ran out of hard drive space and stopped. Now completes normally.

Class schedule entry (on-line): Took 8.5 minutes. Now takes 3 seconds.

Interactive voice response for grade information (Interactive Voice Response System): Used to take 3 minutes, now takes a few seconds.

Course Guide, the process of setting up a course online: The process was timing out; now takes 10-30 seconds.

Student Program/Plan, the process to retrieve program/plan information: Formerly took 15 seconds; now takes 1 second.
Class Cancel, the process of canceling a class when a course has over 50 sections. Formerly took 8 minutes, now takes 30 seconds.
