From the Office of the Bursar
December 7, 1999
Tuition bill late fees waived for certain students. [NOTE: later waived for ALL students].The Office of the Bursar announced today that students won't have to pay late fees if they have not yet received their financial aid or if they are resolving errors in their tuition bills.
Acting Bursar Pat Roth said "The students shouldn't be penalized for software or data entry errors." Tuition bills were calculated on the new PeopleSoft system for the first time. "We saw the kind of mistakes you usually find in new software applications," Roth said, "including functionality that wasn't there or didn't work right, data entry errors, and residency errors." Roth said tuition billing should run more smoothly spring semester.
Students who received accurate tuition bills and have had their financial aid (if any) credited to their student account must pay the entire amount of the first installment on their tuition bill by the December 9 deadline. Total payment must be received by January 13
Students with questions should call Student Accounts Receivable at (612) 625-8500 or email STARS@cafe.tc.umn.edu.
