Q. if a student registers for a course offered the last seven-weeks
of the semester, do these credits count toward the tuition plateau where each
credit beyond 12 is half price? How are students billed for courses taken the
last half of the semester?
A. Credits for "special term" courses (those that don't fit the 15-week semester schedule) do apply to the tuition plateau. When the students enroll for a course beginning in, say, March, the tuition will be posted to their Student Accounts and a bill sent out.
Q. Do independent and distance learning (IDL) credits apply to the tuition
plateau?
A. No. IDL credits don't apply toward the plateau. But IDL credits are counted for financial aid requirements.
Q. Do Intersession credits apply toward the tuition plateau if a student
registers for Intersession during spring registration?
A. No. Intersession credits do not count toward the Spring tuition plateau.
Q. Are late enrollment fees and cancel/add fees in force for spring?
A. Late enrollment fees will be charged; cancel/add fees won't.
Q. Are there late fees for special terms?
A. Right now PeopleSoft can't handle special terms very well, although we expect it will in the future. So students registering for special term and IDL classes are automatically being assessed late fees.
OTR will waive these late fees. Send us the list of students to be waived with their IDs and the reason your are requesting the waiver. Email to m-kosk@tc.umn.edu.
Q. I work with "adult specials." When I look at these students in stars,
I see "undergraduate," not "adult special." How does PeopleSoft handle adult
specials?
A. In Peoplesoft , the adult special classification is indicated under the Plan, but the student's Career is Undergraduate. Undergraduate rates are the same in all colleges. The rates are assessed based on the Career, not the Plan.
