Re: How to Access Fall Semester 1999 Class Lists
Working with the Enterprise Systems Project staff and the Office of InformationTechnology, Information Management Systems has established class list reports for Faculty, Departments and Colleges. All of the class list reports include name, ID number, the number of credits, grading option selected, name, ID number, college of enrollment and an e-mail address for each student registered.
The reports are updated daily and can be viewed, printed, or downloaded to Excel to assist in setting up class e-mail lists or grade sheets. They are located at www.umreports.umn.edu.
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS INFORMATION TO ALL INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF IN YOUR UNIT AND
TO RELEVANT MEMBERS OF YOUR STAFF.
The Class Lists for Instructors report is designed to permit faculty and instructors to quickly access a class list roster by selecting the campus and typing in the course designator, course and section numbers. Class rosters for all sections of cross-listed courses can also be easily accessed by clicking on links in the upper right hand corner of the report. On-line instructions about downloading files or accessing the report are directly linked from the report description and the report requested.
We hope that the list of e-mail addresses will be useful to instructors for communication with students. Some faculty may prefer to establish a Listserv account for their class. Professor and teaching assistants may set up a Listserv by sending e-mail to listserv@tc.umn.edu with the command
get list-req class
An application form for creating a Listserv will be mailed to you. Please note that only class instructors are allowed to create class mailing lists in this manner; students may not.
The Class Lists for Departments report is organized by subject or course designator to provide the class rosters for all of the courses, which belong to a department. Users are prompted to select the term, academic group (college or academic unit) and the subject to run the report. The Class Lists for Colleges provides class lists for all of the courses, which belong to an academic group
(college or academic unit). Reports are displayed using Adobe Acrobat and can be scheduled to run at intervals and times selected by the user. Additional information about downloading files or accessing the report is also available.
As you take advantage of the opportunity to use these new reports, please be mindful that the use of information contained in these reports is governed by the provisions of the University's Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy and should be restricted to official class business."
