Campuses:
Central Security designs, installs, maintains, and monitors all University of Minnesota security systems. We improve security on all campuses using both physical and electronic systems; allowing faculty, staff and students to focus on their work.
We partner with departments to develop and implement security plans for both renovations and new construction, aligning technology with the needs of the University community.
To create and promote a safe and secure environment for the University community through proactive, impartial, and innovative services.
To develop and support an environment in which University community members can safely achieve their educational, research, and employment goals without fear of concern for their personal safety.
In an effort to centralize physical and electronic security systems on campus after the events of 9/11, five units from across the University were combined to create the Department of Central Security (DCS).
The Security ID Badge program was created under Central Security's business services unit.
