The Center for Violence Prevention and Control Technical Advisory Team provides technical research assistance to principal investigators conducting violence-related research. The team, comprised of five professionals with comprehensive expertise in violence-related research methodology and epidemiology, has collaborated with researchers on six grants to provide support and facilitation through
the following research processes:
Administative preparation (securing IRB approval and site cooperation);
Theoretical preparation (developing conceptual models and literature
reviews);
Methodological preparation (preparing data collection instruments,
protocols, and plans for data analyses, training, target population and
sample identification, and data distribution and collection);
Data analysis (finalizing model, data cleaning and entry, computing
and interpreting descriptive and/or inferential statistics);
Reporting (documenting methods, analysis, and results, reporting conclusions,
limitations, recommendations, implications, and solidifying plans for dissemination
and follow-up.
