2002/2003 Community Service Awards Committee of Council on Public
Engagement
Report to the Council: Wednesday, December 11, 2002

Goal
To honor members of the University community who have devoted their
time and effort to make substantial, enduring contributions to the
community and to improving public life and the well-being of society.
Letter and announcement from Provost Maziar attached.
The committee requests that members of COPE participate actively
in the nomination process notifying college personnel, announcing
at faculty meetings, raising visibility of award, associating the
award with the mission of COPE.

Eligibility
- Contributions at the local, regional, state, national, and international
level
- Persons associated with the U of M eligible: faculty,
staff, civil service, bargaining unit, retired, volunteer.
- System-wide
- Demonstrated commitment to the U of M and the greater Minnesota
community
- Contributions both in the persons line of work (over and
above) and also community service not related to line of work.
- Timeline and banquet coordinated with the Josie R. Johnson Award.
