Dear Lead and Grassroots Volunteers,

Thank you very much for joining the campus-wide team to help with the 2012 Community Fund Drive. Whether you are a first-time volunteer or a “veteran” volunteer, we appreciate the time and effort you will give to making the fund drive a huge success!

Last year U of M employees pledged nearly $1.25 million to the seven participating federations. This year we are committed to surpass that pledge amount and have a goal to achieve a $1.5 million pledge amount and 40% participation. During tough economic times, donations go down and needs go up. Now, more than ever, the agencies and charities supported by the federations need our help. Every little bit counts - small gifts really do add up. We are confident that with your help and the University’s Culture of Caring, we can reach these goals.

The success of the fund drive will depend on each volunteer communicating with employees about the fund drive, asking for pledges, and thanking people for their contributions. Research has shown that the personal approach is the most effective way to get employees to contribute to the fund drive.

This Volunteer Guide contains information that you will need to conduct the campaign. In addition, we encourage you to attend the training/information sessions on September 19, and the campaign's closing thank you event November 19. All events will be held at McNamara Alumni Center. We promise these events will be informative and fun!
