There are many ways to use maroon and gold as the predominant colors in your design.
Use a maroon or gold bar at the top or bottom of your publication with the wordmark centered within.

Existing logos can be repurposed as a graphic elements by extracting the icon and using it separate from the unit name. Scale, layer and crop the icon so that it becomes seen as part of the design, not a logo. The following are examples only and were not produced.
The shapes from the Bell Museum icon are scaled up to make content areas and an identity system.
