Bio
|
Major Douglas Leonard is a native of East Grand Forks, Minnesota and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis where he earned a geology degree and was commissioned as an engineer officer in 1995.

MAJ Leonard attended Engineer Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood. He then held positions as platoon leader, company XO, S2, and assistant S3 with the 1st Engineer Battalion (mechanized) at Fort Riley. From there he attended Engineer Officer Advanced Course, CASSS, and earned a masters degree in engineering management. Moving to Fort Bragg, he held positions as company commander and S3 with the 27th Engineer Battalion (combat)(airborne), and deployed to Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo. His next tour of duty was as an Observer-Controller/Trainer for Army Reserve units in Des Moines.

MAJ Leonard has earned the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and NATO ribbons as well as graduating from Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, and Mountain Warfare School.

MAJ Leonard is now the MS I instructor and Ranger Challenge Advisor for the University of Minnesota Army ROTC Program in Minneapolis. He resides in Blaine with his wife and two young children. He will do 50 pushups for anyone who can beat him in a tennis match.
