Antivirus and Firewall

Download Symantec Client Security antivirus and firewall, or Symantec (Norton) AntiVirus alone, from ADCS free of charge. It is extremely important that you keep your computer protected from viruses, worms, trojans, and other malicious programs. Keeping antivirus software installed and up to date will help.

Statistical Software

Students may purchase an individual license to use the JMP and SAS software packages. SAS is available for both Mac and Windows platforms. It is used widely for statistical analysis, as well as for access, analysis, management, and presentation of data. Cash or Checks are acceptable forms of payment for these licenses.

Minitab statistical software is available to students through University Computer Services (UCS) as a yearly, renewable license.

N6 is the latest enhancement in the world leading QSR NUD*IST line of software. N6 features a visual interface and controls that keep you close to your data, allowing immediate accessing and exploring and swift data import, coding, searching and management.

VPN

The Cisco Virtual Private Networking (VPN) client software is available free of charge from ADCS. VPN offers two primary benefits:

  • When you are connected to the Internet through a non-UMN provider, VPN allows you to access online resources normally restricted to computers directly connected to the U's network.
  • When you are using a UMN Wireless Internet connection, VPN safely encrypts your data while in transit between your computer and the VPN server so that it is not sent in the clear through the air.
