Planned Outage on May 20 for Enterprise Servers

On May 20 electricians will shut down all power to the Data Center in WBOB to add a second uninterrupted power system (UPS). Because of the power outage, many systems will not be available. Affected servers will be shut down starting at 6 a.m. to prepare for an 8 a.m. main power outage. Once main power is restored at noon, technical staff will gradually power up servers, start databases and applications, and perform technical verification. This is estimated to take several hours with an anticipated completion time of 4 p.m.

Not all systems are affected by this power outage. Please check the list below for a complete list of available and unavailable systems. Updates on the upgrade will be posted every hour starting at 7 a.m.

Systems that will be available include:

  • Central E-mail
  • Central Web servers
  • Personal Web space
  • Web Hotel
  • UMCalendar

Central account password changes and any change to the x.500 directory will not take effect until late in the day on Saturday.

Systems that will be unavailable:

  • PeopleSoft
  • All systems that rely on PeopleSoft for information delivery such as student registration, Grades, Financial Aid, Employee Self Service
  • Breeze 5.1
  • Data Warehouse
  • Lyris (mass mailing)
  • Netbackup will not be done on Saturday.
  • Sawmill
  • Service gateway
  • UDMS (NFS and CIFS services)
  • UMReports
  • WebCT Vista
  • Wiki
