DHCP Ethernet Configuration for Windows XP

This guide assumes that your computer has the network adapter and TCP/IP already installed. If you do not have these installed refer to the Windows XP Ethernet Connection Guide to install them.

  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel, double click on Network Connections.
  2. Double click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
  3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
  4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
  5. Click OK to close the TCP/IP Properties window.
  6. Click OK to close the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  7. Click Close to close the Local Area Connection Status window.
  8. Restart your computer.
