Central Servers and General Network Configuration
This page is a quick reference containing configuration information for connections to central Internet services at the University of Minnesota.

If you live in a student residence hall on campus, configure your Ethernet connection for DHCP.
DHCP is the recommended configuration for client connections in other buildings on campus, but your local network administrator may require another configuration. - Internet ID
- Your Internet ID
is the part
of your central UMN e-mail address before the "
@umn.edu". For most individuals, it will be the first 4-5 letters of the last name, followed by numbers, like this:user1234oruserx123.
You may be able to find your Internet ID on the University Directory if you have not suppressed your directory entry. - E-mail Address
