E-mail Configuration Guides (POP)
These guides will help you configure an e-mail program (application) on your computer for use with your UMN e-mail account. These guides were designed for POP configurations with SSL enabled; however, IMAP is preferred over POP, especially when you may be checking your e-mail from different computers.

We do not provide a POP e-mail guide in parallel with each of our IMAP guides. However, our Secure Communications (SSL) Web site contains several Mac e-mail guides and Windows e-mail guides that provide POP configuration instructions. Please see our main E-mail Configuration Guides page for a full list of our e-mail guides based on IMAP.

SSL Conversion
SSL-enabled authentication is important in your e-mail software because it protects your password in transit to the e-mail server. If you are already using an e-mail program (application) and you need to reconfigure it for SSL, please refer to our SSL upgrade guides: http://www.umn.edu/securecom.
If you followed one of the setup guides below and enabled the SSL options, you're already set.
