Internet Service, from home
The University's dial-up Internet service was discontinued on December 31, 2007.
The University is not a direct provider of home Internet Service. However, we have negotiated bulk discounts with local dial-up, cable, and DSL vendors. University faculty, students, staff, and alumni may purchase this service directly from the selected vendors through UMart.
Dial-up is the low cost Internet service option. It allows customers to obtain a Internet connection using their computer's modem and home telephone line.
Cable and DSL connections are much faster than dial-up but are also more expensive. The connection is always on, and it does not tie up your phone line. Compare DSL and cable.
University network restrictions
If you are using a vendor provided Internet connection and need to access a University system that is restricted to University network connections, you may need to install and run VPN on your computer.
