ALERT: E-mail fraud/phishing alert for University e-mail accounts May. 1, 2008
Recently, another wave of fraudulent University of Minnesota look-alike e-mails asking for personal and confidential information was sent to some University e-mail account holders. These e-mails are not from the University of Minnesota. Do not respond to these e-mails or click on any links or attachments contained within them. The University will never ask you to provide your password or other personal information by e-mail.

WebMail Pro/3.0 Being Decommissioned Feb. 7, 2008
Due to declining usage, WebMail Pro and WebMail 3.0 will be decommissioned, and the scheduled decommission date is July 1. GopherMail will continue as a Web-based e-mail application for central e-mail accounts.

Fraudulent University of Minnesota look-alike e-mails asking for personal and confidential information recently have been sent to some University e-mail account holders. These e-mails are not from the University of Minnesota. The University will never ask you to provide your password or other personal information by e-mail. You should delete the messages. Do not respond to these e-mails, or click on any links or attachments contained within them.
Self-Service Password Reset Option for Students Available Jan. 25, 2008
The Office of Information Technology has implemented a new system for resetting Internet passwords, making it possible for students to reset a forgotten password online — 24 hours a day — without calling the helpline. The option currently is available only to students.

Network Outage Postponed Jan. 14, 2008
Due to unresolved technical issues, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has postponed the upgrade to the switches in all of its data centers (WBOB, TelecomB, Infotech, PWB, Bio Ag Eng) that was scheduled for 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The upgrade is scheduled to take place in February.

LISTSERV Software Upgraded Jan. 9, 2008
The University's LISTSERV software was upgraded in late December 2007 in order to improve its Web interface performance.
Approximately 653,500 users subscribe to more than 4,000 University lists, with a total of 112,263 messages delivered in January 2008 alone. Used for e-mail newsletters, announcement lists, discussion groups and e-mail communities, LISTSERV features include a spam filter, a Web archive interface, digests, indexes, and database functions.
